Russell is an Application Development Leader for Rigid Packaging in the Packaging and Specialty Plastics business of Dow. In five years at Dow, Russell has led the development and commercialization of eight products for the rotational molding and rigid packaging markets. In his current role, Russell is responsible for application development for fitments, caps & closures, and cosmetic packaging. Before joining Dow, he received his B.S. in Chemistry and M.S. in Packaging Science from Clemson University in South Carolina.

Her current role with Tesla sees her managing packaging program in Reno, as well as directly supporting the launch of additional Tesla facilities in New York, Shanghai, and Berlin.

Rachel Gibbons’ experience in manufacturing, marketing & innovation spans more than 20 years. She holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University with focus areas in strategy and innovation management. Her passion is discovering customer insights, and developing solutions that fulfill unmet market needs.Rachel began her career in the packaging industry applying skills in LEAN and Six Sigma to improve supply chain operations. From there, she went on to work with software development and e-commerce companies that develop ways to optimize production, logistics and fulfilment operations with state of the art software systems. She returned to packaging manufacturing with a focus on technology that extends the life of packaging, increases sustainability, optimizes cost and at the same time improves performance. In her role as the global business director, Rachel partners with stakeholders around the world in the packaging and supply chain segments to develop solutions that improve the industry.

Dave is a graduate of Babson College. For the past 10 years. Dave has been working closely with Quality and Process Engineers to implement solutions to mitigate static and particles just before final packaging in Medical and Industrial applications. Dave is a Board Member on the New England Chapter of IOPP: Institute of Packaging Professionals.

Ryan is a 2004 Cal Poly, Industrial Technology Grad. Post Cal Poly he started a career at Intel Corporation starting as an Intern to know being one of the longest tenured employees in his group. Ryan was able to use his learn by doing and hands only approach from Cal Poly to successfully make significant contributions at Intel. Ryan married his Cal Poly sweetheart and has 3 young children (7, 5, 3 yrs old) that keep him busy at home in Arizona. Ryan is a Cal Poly Packaging Advisory Board member and enjoys being able to return and support Cal Poly.

Jason graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UCR and is currently attending Cal Poly San Luis Obisbo, MS Packaging Value Chain. He has 7 years of experience in medical device primarily as a Packaging Engineer, but also supporting R&D, Manufacturing, and Project Management. He has worked on products in various industries including General Surgery, Orthopedic & Orthobiologics, and Cardiovascular. His current role with Edwards Lifesciences has him working on packaging with responsibilities for the design, validation, and implementation of new product development..

Jake Snethen graduated from the Cal Poly Industrial Technology and Packaging program in 2014. The hands on experience gained while attending Cal Poly significantly contributed to his success as a structural packaging designer upon graduating. His passion for packaging that is good for both people and the environment led him to Golden Arrow, a sustainable packaging company, where he participates in the development of socially and environmentally responsible packaging from materials to manufacturing to end of life.

Jeff Bassett is the SVP of Marketing for Footprint, a company focused on creating and delivering the technologies that enable global brands to eliminate their dependence on single use plastics. For over a decade, he has been at the epicenter of marketing solutions that eliminate plastic. As he often says, “Every brand has a great sustainability story that is just waiting to be told. All it takes a little bit of action paired with a little bit of risk.” Heavily influenced by his small-town America roots, Jeff believes that through friendship, collaboration and a heavy dose of innovation, any challenge can be overcome. Jeff continues to build collaborations with brands and non-profits to create real world change. He has as served as a founding member of Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas Alliance and continues to work closely with NGO’s and brands to help craft a new future that is free of single use plastics. Jeff graduated from Arizona State University with a BS in Marketing. He was also a semi-finalist for outstanding graduating senior and proudly represents ASU’s long-standing tradition of innovation.

Matthew Wright is the founder & CEO of Specright, a cloud-based Specification Data Management platform. Prior to founding Specright, he spent over 25 years in the packaging industry and held leadership positions at International Paper, Temple Inland, and rightPAQ — a packaging company he co-founded. He has also been involved in leading multiple M&A deals in the packaging industry. He sits on the Packaging Advisory Board at Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo.

Starting as an in-house graphic designer of a packaging manufacturer, Allan soon found his passion in structural and conceptual design. With over 20 years of experience in the POP and packaging industry, Allan is responsible at Bay Cities for leading concept development and structural design. His in-depth design knowledge and creativity has earned him numerous awards from Shop! OMA Award, Design of the Times, AICC Design Competition, Promax Award and Addy Award.His portfolio includes projects for Nintendo, Boost Mobile, Shell, Costco, Hasbro, Disney, SanDisk, TaylorMade and many more well-known brands. Allan graduated from the Art center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.

In her current role at Edwards Lifesciences she is responsible for the development and validation of packaging systems, working closely with cross-functional teams to bring products to market. Tara is also passionate about the impact packaging can have on global logistics within the business, and is leading a team to help define the hand-off strategy between packaging and operations.
