Michael Carrier, Director of Package Development, Berkley International

Berkley International

Michael Carrier is currently the Director of Package Development at Los Angeles based Berkley International; a family owned manufacturer of molded fiber and provider of total package solutions. He started his career in packaging at Sony Electronics protecting large format televisions. His product protection background combined with a dedication to environmentally conscious packaging, in both retail and ecommerce, has enabled Berkley to apply molded fiber to new markets.  He is a graduate of Michigan State University with a B.S. in Packaging in 2002.

Jeroen Dankbaar, Experience Center Manager

Smurfit Kappa

Over the last 15 years, Jeroen worked within the packaging industry in various positions, across different departments all over Europe. 2 years ago he built the first Experience Center for Smurfit Kappa outside of Europe. The EC in Dallas is equipped with the latest cutting edge technologies, allowing customers and designers to come together and develop solutions that deliver customer growth and maximize business success through insights and innovation.

Gary Dong , Senior Packaging Engineer

ary Dong is a Senior Packaging Engineer for Amazon at Lab126, the inventive research and development team for consumer electronic devices.  Gary started his Packaging career in the Corrugate industry, then Pharmaceutical & Medical devices, and now focuses on Consumer Electronics.  Gary’s job is to make bold decisions and advocate for the customer when engineering solutions.  He received his Bachelors of Science in Industrial Technology – Packaging from San Jose State University and is a certified ISTA CPLP.

Katie Exum, Packaging Engineer

Amazon at Lab126

Katie Exum graduated from Cal Poly in 2016 with a degree in Industrial Technology. She works for Lab126, Amazon’s hub for consumer electronics engineering. In her Packaging Engineering role, she works on accessories, smart home accessories, and new product initiatives. Katie is also passionate about sustainability, and leads the Lab126 chapter of Amazon Sustainability Ambassadors.

Robert Guerrieri, Market Manager-Protective Packaging, DowDuPont Packaging & Specialty Plastics

Dow Chemical Company

Robert is a Market Manager in DowDuPont’s Packaging & Specialty Plastics Business focusing on the businesses’ technical and commercial development in protective packaging used to transport goods through various channels such as in e commerce.  

Romar Karl, National Sales Development Manager

BestPack Packaging Systems

Romar Karl is the National Sales Development Manager at BestPack Packaging Systems, a global manufacturer of carton erecting and sealing equipment. Beginning his career manufacturing corrugated boxes, Romar has spent the past 15years on both the manufacturing and distribution sides of the packaging industry. His current role allows him to share his passion for automation and continuous improvement processes from coast to coast and across a wide variety of industries, including agriculture, internet fulfillment, and many others.

Kevin Marchetti, Structural Packaging Designer, L&E International

L&E International

Kevin Marchetti is a recent graduate of Cal Poly. He is currently based in Bangkok, Thailand. Kevin works with Sean at L&E developing structural packaging designs for mass retail programs including solutions to withstand the challenges of online retail shipping channels. 

Sarah Marchetti, Technical Sales Representative

Packaging Corporation of America

Sarah Marchetti graduated from Cal Poly in 2015 with a minor in Packaging. She works for Packaging Corporation of America, one of the top three corrugated manufacturing companies in the United States. After spending three years working as a designer and ISTA Certified Technician, she made the transition to a role in sales. As a Technical Sales Representative, she specializes in protective packaging for the tech industry and works collaboratively with customers to produce highly engineered packaging.

Sean Murphy, CMO, L&E International

L&E International

Passionate about brand packaging and sustainability, Sean is an internationally experienced Executive with a proven record of success in brand design, sustainable packaging, marketing and leadership. An enthusiastic blue sky thinker, Sean works with companies and brands to help improve their products, packaging and supply-chain while reducing company costs, moving sustainability initiatives forward and increasing the bottom line.  

As a successful start-up cofounder of several business, Sean brings expertise in location strategy and facility planning, build-out and purchasing, recruitment and human resources, contracts and other legal issues. Built and managed customer service and studio operations in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China and the USA.

A results-driven leader who is adept at private label and brand packaging, design, artwork production, photography, engineering and implementation of sustainable materials, Sean brings knowledge of OEM and ODM supply chain management, subcontractor relations and negotiations.

A US Citizen, Sean has lived and worked in San Francisco, Hong Kong, Taipei, Chicago and New York. Holder of Hong Kong permanent resident card. Currently based in Chicago and New York. 

Ketty Poletto, Global Packaging Sustainability Director

Coca-Cola Company

Ketty has been with the Coca-Cola Company for over 5 years. She is the current Global Sustainability Procurement Director responsible for developing sustainability strategies across different packaging types. Prior to joining the Coca-Cola Company Ketty had spent more than 10 years’ experience in Strategic Sourcing with the Procter & Gamble Company where she had held Global positions both in Marketing Procurement and in Raw and Packaging Materials Procurement. Ketty is originally from Italy and graduated from the University of Padova with combined Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Business and Economics. Ketty resides in Atlanta with her two boys. Ketty is also a soccer coach in her free time and enjoy doing work to help the less fortunate.

Greg Roskos, Senior Scientist

JM Smucker Company

Greg is currently at The J.M. Smucker Company leading packaging innovation for their Consumer Food business. This includes exploring new packaging technologies that enable the brands of The J. M. Smucker Company to launch new-to-the-world products, connect with consumers in new and novel ways, as well as deliver enhanced consumption experiences. Greg has also lead packaging development from concept to commercialization on a variety of well known and loved brands including Smucker’s®, Pillsbury®, Crisco®, Jif®, Uncrustables® and many more. His favorite Smucker’s® product is Raspberry Flavored Uncrustables®. 

Prior to Smucker’s Greg worked at other major food manufacturers including Heinz and Mars Foods where he had the opportunity to work on iconic brands such as Ore-Ida® French fries, Delimex® frozen Mexican food, Uncle Ben’s® rice and Seeds of Change® organic grains. His work in packaging development has ranged from dry shelf stable products to frozen foods for omni-channel executions from grocery to club to eCommerce to foodservice. 

Greg has always had a passion for supporting the development of current and prospective packaging professionals. Greg has served as a past president for the Steel City Chapter of the Institute of Packaging Professionals. He is also the founder and past president of the Cal Poly Packaging Alumni Association and serves on the Advisory Board for Cal Poly’s Packaging Program as the current Chairman. 

Greg graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Technology with a minor in Packaging. Greg and his wife Shawna have carried their Mustang pride far and wide as they currently reside in the Cleveland, OH area. They currently have 4 future Mustangs at home; Nancy, Adam, Nathan and Everett. 

Anthony Rossi, VP, Global Business Development at TerraCycle


Anthony Rossi is the VP, Global Business Development for TerraCycle, an international leader in the collection and repurposing of difficult-to-recycle post-consumer and post-industrial waste. Across 21 countries, TerraCycle collects and repurposes billions of pieces of waste, generating millions of dollars of donations for schools and charities in the process. Many of the world’s largest consumer products companies contract with TerraCycle to collect and recycle the products and packaging they produce.  

Anthony has been with TerraCycle for over 5-years. Before leading the global business development team from TerraCycle’s HQ in New Jersey, Anthony was a member of TerraCycle Canada’s business development team in Toronto.   

Prior to joining TerraCycle, Anthony earned his business development “stripes” working in Canada, France, Hungary, and Austria for some of the world’s largest professional service firms and financial institutions.
